FRIENDS OF THE CRYSTAL LAKE LIBRARY
November 17, 2008 MINUTES

Present: Jeremy Stamp, Elizabeth Puchmelter, Ann Wells, Jan Polep and Robert Finger.

President Jeremy Stamp called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. at the temporary meeting location, McHenry County College Cafeteria.

The October Minutes were approved as corrected.

President’s Report: Jeremy Stamp reported “excellent donations” of 69 DVDs and 170 CDs for the April Used Book Sale. Member, Robert Finger, was introduced as FOCLL’s new website manager and showed members the new website design. Jeremy will continue contribution of theYahoo membership to FOCLL. A thank you letter for granting her lifetime membership was received from past president, Barbara Tade. On December 4th, Jeremy will attend the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce new membership orientation.

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning Balance: $3,455.55 as of October 31, 2008; Tote Bag Sales: $24.00; Dues: $45.00; Donations: None; Interest: $2.45; Other Income: $1,330.00 [gross sales from the Mum Sale]. Disbursements: $637.50 to Countryside Nursery for mums. Ending Balance: $2,889.86.

Committee Reports:

Membership: Ann Wells reported the addition of three new members. An updated membership list will be provided to the Secretary as soon as possible.

Fundraising: Coupons for the next Jewel Shop and Share Days, November 17th-19th are now available at the Library. The next Shop and Share Days will be on December 15th-17th.

Director’s Report: None, due to the absence of Assistant Director, Karen Migaldi.

Library Board Report: None, due to absence of Library Board Member, Carol Heisler.

Old Business: Jeremy will provide Karen with Used Book Sale collection dates for the next issue of The Beacon. These are: January 24th, February 14th, February 28th and March 21st. Ann reported that book back packs bearing the FOCLL logo are available from Janway for $5.25 each for 100 with a possible logo set- up fee of $40.00. No action was taken and the item was tabled for a time when current book bags needed reordering. She suggested that every FOCLL event should feature the sale of book bags. The Lincoln impersonation of R.J. Lindsay remains unconfirmed and Jeremy will consult with Karen and Adult Services Director, Cynthia Lopuszynski about a date and possible Library location. A replacement for Nancy Dlugosz, who recently resigned as Treasurer, is still being sought.

New Business: There will no meeting of FOCLL in December. The next FOCLL meeting will be on January 19th at 7:00 P.M. in the Library’s Ames Meeting Room. The meeting adjourned at 8:44 P.M.
