FRIENDS OF THE CRYSTAL LAKE LIBRARY
JANUARY 19, 2009 MINUTES

Present: Barb Mullowney, Bob Finger, Julie Wentz, Amy Morgan, Jan Polep, Karen Migaldi, Carol Heisler, Ann Wells, Jeremy Stamp and Elizabeth Puchmelter.

President Jeremy Stamp called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m.

The November Minutes were approved as corrected for location.

President's Report: Jeremy advised that many additional materials have been collected for the April 25th and 26th FOCLL Used Book Sale. The next collection date is January 24th in the Ames Meeting Room of the Library. Additional collection dates are: February 14th & 28th and March 21st from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those wishing to have materials picked up at their homes may contact Jeremy. Members approved the replacement of resigned treasurer, Nancy Dlugosz, with Ann Wells. She will continue in that capacity until election of officers in April. A change will need to be made in the By Laws re: resignations.

Treasurer's Report: Beginning Balance: $2,850.72; Tote Bag Sales: $78.50; Interest: $.98; Jewel Shop and Share Days: $93.59; Disbursements: None; Ending Balance: $3,023.79.

Membership Committee Report: Ann reported one membership dues was received.

Fundraising Committee Report: Elizabeth noted that volunteers will be needed for setup for the Used Book Sale: all day April 22nd, 23rd and 24th and for the Sale Days from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 25th and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 26th. The Ames Room will be available for pickup of sale materials and leftover materials from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. on April 27th. Twenty three tables will need to be rented for the Sale with the Library proving a table for checkout and a dolly and carts Though FOCLL has long discussed purchase of tables for the Sale, on-site storage is not available at the Library.

Director's Report: Karen advised that Nancy will continue to volunteer as chair for the Jewel Shop and Share Days and Market Days. She suggested that those organizing the Scholastic Book Fair scheduled for June 22nd and 23rd attend the workshops which Scholastic Books provides. Set up dates will be April 19th and 20th. FOCLL will continue to provide major donation for the Summer Reading Program though the Daily Herald newspaper will no longer provide Big Ticket donations.

Library Board Report: Carol noted that the next Presidents' presentation at the Raue Center for the Performing Arts is scheduled for December. This event benefits the Raue and the Library's Foundation.

Old Business: Jeremy reported that FOCLL will not be presenting Lincoln impersonator R.J. Lindsay's program due to scheduling conflicts.

New Business: Ann will provide a check to the Secretary for sending out Minutes. Jeremy, Jan and Fran Hicks will serve as the nominating committee. The next meeting will be held on February 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the Ames Meeting Room
