Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is FOCLL?

A: The Friends of the Crystal Lake Library.

Q: What does FOCLL do? Or What is FOCLL?

A: Friends of the Crystal Lake Library is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer organization that is dedicated to supporting the Crystal Lake Library, Reading Programs, working to benefit the library and the community. Nobody receives any compensation for their work with FOCLL. 100% of money raised by FOCLL goes back into library programs, events, and improvements.

Q: How can I support FOCLL?

A:

  1. The most valuable thing you can give is your TIME. While money is excellent for the Friends, money is easier to come by than willing volunteers who can take a few hours out of their month to help the library and community with whatever project FOCLL has going on that month.
  2. Become a member and attend meetings. While you don't need to be a member to attend a meeting, it is encouraged. One year memberships are only $10 for an individual. Family memberships are $25 for one year, and a lifetime membership is $250. All membership dues go to support library activities.

Q: Why do you volunteer for Friends of the Crystal Lake Library?

A: Each person has their own reasons for giving their time to FOCLL. Some like to give back to the library that has given the community so much. Others are educators who are committed to seeing the library succeed for the next generations. While other people just want to get out and meet members of our community. Each person has a reason and whatever that reason is, we are glad to have them at our meetings and events.
